Recorders and Ocarinas

The English National Curriculum states that five year olds and upwards should have 'experience of playing tuned musical instruments'. Many schools use recorders, although a number are starting to use Ocarinas.

Both of these instruments are normally played two-handed, but Reach have one-handed versions available (both left and right handed) which allow your child to fully participate.

The recorders are available for members to hire - click here for the form ( recorderhire.pdf 157 Kb)

One-handed Ocarinas (left and right handed versions) are available to buy direct from the manufacturer www.ocarina.co.uk (although they currently do not have details of their one-handed version on their web site), or buy one from Reach at £21.95 including postage and packing. Please state whether you need a left- or right-handed version. The set includes an ocarina, instructions and music book 1. Click here for the order form (ocarina order.pdf 116 Kb)
